Report from the Bunker

Day 28

No "scurvy knaves" here.

We may not have much produce in the bunker yet...but we have a start. This morning I pulled up some radishes, snipped off some baby spinach leaves, pinched off some chives and then there's the parsley for garnish. Not too bad for someone with a "black thumb".

Only 4 days to go...including today.

  1. Way to go! Soon you'll be up to your eye teeth in radishes & spinach.

And we have to say how proud we are of your efforts in this experiment! Gives the rest of us some hope that we could actually live from our food storage! Thanks!

  3. I still think you ought to go with at least 1 zuke plant---just pick them when they're cute little babies and when you're done (as in the freezer is full of cute little portions just right for bread and /or pancakes...see previous recipe)jerk that plant right out. A certain amount of ruthlessness is condoned (even expected!)in dealing with zucchini plants...but they are so good in so many things and a pretty sneaky way to get a little nutrition in without it being noticed ( especially if you peel them before using or freezing-practically invisible).
